
The Wind Point lighthouse was constructed on the shores of the Great Lakes in 1880 to provide navigational assistance to ships on the lake. It stands 108 feet tall and was originally illuminated with a kerosene lamp. The kerosene lamp was replace with an electric lamp in the early 1920's then again in the 1960's with a high intensity electric lamp. The top casting and wind catcher have an accurate depiction of the Wind Point lighthouse cast into them.
