Listen to Chime
In Roman days it was very dangerous to be a
Christian. It was popular sport during those times to feed
Christians to the lions at your local amphitheater. A secret
method was devised by Christians to separate who was Christian
and who was not. Everybody carried a staff back then. When a
Christian met an unfamiliar person, he would take his staff and
draw a half circle in the sand. If the other person was not a
Christian, then this gesture would be meaningless to him and he
would do nothing. If the other person was a Christian he would
know to also draw a half circle indicating he also was
Christian. The two half circles that were drawn formed what we
know as the fish sign, or Sign of Faith.
