The totem pole was a common feature in Indian cultures through out the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. The poles were usually carved from cedar trees and depicted a multitude of icons, varied as much as the tribes that carved them. Carvings usually depicted historical events within the tribe or told a story of mythological nature. The poles generally were not a religious feature. Our Alaska totum pole wind chime has a totum pole cast into the top support and a moose cast into the sail.
